BMW Customer Racing Teams Set For 2020 SRO TC America Green Flag; All-New BMW M2 CS Racing to be Displayed During Circuit of the Americas Weekend.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – March 4, 2020 . . . BMW Customer Racing teams will take the green flag for the start of the 2020 SRO Touring Car (TC) America season on March 7 - 8 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), in Austin, Texas. BMW returned to SRO TC America competition in 2016 and in the past four seasons has reignited the class with double-digit BMW entries at many events.

In the Touring Car America class, the BMW M235i Racing and its successor the BMW M240i Racing completely changed the landscape of the class, allowing entry-level amateur drivers an almost turn-key package and a solid path to the podium. Beginning with the 2016 season, BMW Customer Racing teams have celebrated three Team (2016, 2018, 2019) titles as well as two Driver (2016, 2019) and two Manufacturer (2017, 2018) championships in the Touring Car class.

Without any doubt, the fact that SRO welcomed the first of BMW’s range of customer race car models in 2016 gave the BMW of North America Customer Racing program its foothold in the USA. It is fitting that BMW of North America would officially introduce the next generation entry level customer race car during the SRO COTA weekend. The all-new BMW M2 CS Racing will be on display for drivers and teams interested in seeing the BMW M240i Racing’s replacement for the upcoming 2021 season. First deliveries of the BMW M2 CS Racing will begin this summer for 2021 SRO TC America teams.

Priced at $120,000 USD plus $995 delivery and handling, the BMW M2 CS Racing offers the best setup for successful entry into motorsport.

The maximum torque of 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) is transmitted by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which has been updated using special motorsport software. The rear locking differential features separate cooling and transfers power to the drive wheels via purpose-built output shafts and wheel bearings adapted for motorsport.

The BMW M2 CS Racing’s engine management, as on the BMW M4 GT4, will allow for various performance levels to be programmed and retrieved, depending on future stipulated Balance of Performance requirements, via Power Sticks. Club Racing and track day drivers can expect an upgraded variant of the car, featuring around 450 horsepower, to be available later this year.
