Two weeks ago, BMW announced it will locate its new BMW i Ventures capital company in lower Manhattan to fund innovative ways of enhancing mega city mobility. The company will now detail plans to significantly renovate two facilities to help sustain mobility in the nation’s premier mega city. This continues the company’s long-standing commitment to automotive commerce in New York City.
The company will also introduce two new vehicles – the new BMW ActiveE full-electric vehicle, specially designed to provide true BMW experience while operating in a metropolitan urban environment and, the first vehicle to feature an all-new advanced technology BMW 4-cylinder engine will be unveiled.

This will be an overview of the BMW Group’s electric vehicle strategy and the role that the BMW ActiveE will play in that strategy when it arrives in the US this fall. Rich will discuss how experience gained with the MINI E field trial paid directly into the development of the BMW ActiveE. Aaron will provide in-depth highlights of the ActiveE including the newly developed electric motor and new battery cell technology, which will include liquid heating and cooling.
